Ellen took me on a tour of Windermere, to the overlook from Orrest Head, and to the Castlerigg stone circle.
I logged a lot of air miles in May. With the Kellogg reunion top of mind, I had tracked down Ellen, who has since moved to the UK. She wasn’t coming to Evanston, so I asked if she would host me on a visit on my way to Hull. The timing was good, so after an overnight flight from Toronto to Heathrow, I took the coach (bus) to Reading and connected to a train at Preston, Lancashire.
Ellen lives in an area promoted with outstanding natural beauty. She picked me up from the train station, and we headed into the Lake District. There’s a path up to Orrest Head, which promises a great view.
