I have been on the Warner Bros studio tour before — maybe 15 to 20 years ago — but it’s a different feeling to be walking around a studio lot wearing a badge, unescorted. Tour guides point out that some structures are just outdoor sets, while others are real buildings.
The soundstages are on a rectangular grid, with street names and big signs.
Each soundstage has a history.
I didn’t see any stars, and some of the technicians were entertained to see me taking photographs. My colleague Charley was on the phone, as usual, as we were a bit early for our meeting.
Outside of the industry, people think that Hollywood pictures mean a glamourous life, but there’s a lot of technical work that goes on. Still, that’s often where the movie magic happens.
